IndexExperience Reflection Action Experience The main purpose of an interview is for the employer to gain in-depth information about a potential employee's personality and ability to determine whether he or she is qualified enough to join their squad. However, this practical interview gave me the opportunity to discover more about many aspects of my personality. When I read that "the recorded interview is not graded", I subconsciously thought it would be easy and didn't put enough effort into preparing. I also expected that the interview questions would all be generic questions like I'm used to being asked for previous job applications, so the engineering-related questions took me by surprise. This is the main reason why I became anxious and started panicking when I was asked some questions during the interview. For example, when I was asked the question “What is a current problem facing the engineering industry?” There were many answers in my head and I couldn't choose a specific one as the answer to this question as there are too many considerable questions currently. This confusion and inability to choose a specific answer made me feel restless and nervous. We say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? Get an Original Essay Reflection In hindsight, I would have been able to handle the questions better if I had prepared for the interview in advance rather than assuming it would just be like any other typical interview. I should have talked to my professor and asked more questions about the interview to at least get an idea of what type of interview it would be. This way I would prepare myself more specifically for engineering related questions. Even though I tried to improvise and answer all the questions, I have to admit that at that moment I couldn't help but feel uncomfortable with the way I answered some questions. If this had been a real interview, I think I would have felt even more anxious being so unprepared and alarmed by some of the questions. As a chemical engineering student, I am aware that I am expected to know my field in depth and I expect the same of myself. However, I now know that I can surprise myself when I feel spontaneous in unfamiliar situations. The experience of this practical interview allowed me to learn more about my weaknesses and what I need to do in the future so that my ability to handle stressful situations can improve significantly. Action I believe that practical situations like this recorded interview give students the ability to grow academically and prepare them mentally for real-life situations. Overall, I am very grateful for this practice interview as it was not graded, it allowed me to gain more detailed knowledge of my weaknesses and my overall personality. This knowledge and experience have been very essential and useful for my personal development. I now know that I should do thorough research and seek expert advice before participating in unfamiliar situations. This would spare me any uncertainty and anxiety that can be caused by unknown/new events. I know it was only a test interview and I was speaking to a computer screen instead of a real person, but I expect a real interview would have been more profound and nerve-wracking if I had been so unprepared. In the future, I plan to ask more questions ahead of time and do more research on what to expect at any serious events related to my academic plans and.
