Topic > The issue of voters' political ignorance

After a war that made every war pale in comparison, many countries were devastated and the loser suffered the most. But not for the loss, but not even for what the future held for her. As the years passed a man who had fought in the Great War, began to slowly emerge making his way through a political party that not many knew or cared about because there were many other concerns they had and many other parties. He rose until he was head of the party. Then he began to act, gathering more and more supporters. Until he committed a violent act against the government of the time, which failed. He was imprisoned and in prison he wrote a book, a book that if it had been read by the masses and fully understood would have prevented his eventual rise. He then changed his tactics to a more peaceful way and found great success, very quickly he rose to the head of the government. He solved many of his country's problems but also brought much worse ones, his name was Adolf Hitler. Say no to plagiarism. Get a tailor-made essay on "Why Violent Video Games Shouldn't Be Banned"? This is a question that many politicians know the answer to and do everything they can to convince voters to elect them into office. However, the information provided to those who elect these people is often full of falsehoods and lies, meaning that voters do not elect very intelligently. Political ignorance is a problem in the United States and potentially around the world because citizens don't care about politics, believe it doesn't matter (their vote), and believe it's too complex to truly understand. Although it is very common and surprisingly good - a known fact in the world of politics - political ignorance is rarely addressed. This is largely due to citizens having no interest in politics. The ordinary voter doesn't make much, if any, effort to delve deeper into the world of politics and the politicians they can vote for. These voters do not care about the world of politics and do not seek to learn more about it, yet because of this the world has seen many dictators rise and take power. While this is highly unlikely to happen in the United States, the danger remains high. Because citizens are indifferent to politics, they remain ignorant about foreign powers and domestic issues. The 2016 presidential election is a great example of this. The citizens of the United States, and most likely other countries, were very divided on this issue. They just watched it come and even now look more like fans of a sports team than citizens who support one candidate or another. As such, they do not take it upon themselves to deepen their knowledge of our government's policies or the policies supported by each candidate. Most citizens of the United States do not even attempt to learn about our democratic nation or its functions. From this apathetic nature comes reckless voting that is based almost exclusively on what they see from the barrage of election ads within the media, which have been edited to just get more voters. This means that it is generally full of false information or information that seems positive but is actually negative. Yet citizens don't know this because of their ignorance of how policies work, or of the current climate of both Congress and foreign affairs. Therebelief that their vote does not matter or that the outcome of any election matters is very similar to that of apathetic citizens, but it is not the same thing. Voters simply don't vote like they used to. Because they believe that a single vote of a nation does not matter, which is quite difficult to disprove since it is correct, yet too many citizens of the United States share this thought. The turnout reflected this. Fewer and fewer are voting. They simply believe that the few who can enter the messy world of politics will be able to properly lead our nation. However, this is a democracy run by the will of the nation, not by the will of less than half the nation. However, given how the last midterm elections went, the highest voter turnout in a century, this trend of ever-decreasing voter turnout may well be erased. The reason is the president of the United States, who has made many questionable choices and policies. He is pushing voters to assert their rights as a citizen of the United States of America on both sides of the political spectrum. As such, the voter turnout issue could be erased for a couple of elections or at least one. However, if something is not done to permanently remove this problem, it will return. It's extremely difficult to deal with since there isn't much to do with it. As well as making voting compulsory for eligible citizens, of course, which is a terrible idea that goes against what the country stands for. For now, however, most politicians seem content to let voters remain in their ignorance and belief that their votes don't count in the nation's elections. The United States government is what was once the pinnacle of how a country should “govern” its people. Now, in today's world, this does not appear to be the case, as more and more countries seem to have replicated our form of government. Although with some obvious differences. As such shouldn't it be well known in the United States? Yet the American government appears to be an enigma to some of its own citizens. The reason is that these Americans do not know the US government, even though the government does nothing to hide the events that happen within it, other than military secrets. Which is good as a government, making it more reliable. It is the people's job to use information given openly, but the American people do not use information that other nations withhold. Citizens of the United States of America have the right to know the current debate going on in Congress and sometimes even to follow it live. Some citizens still don't do it, many actually don't. They rarely know which party has the majority or who is the speaker of the House. This is information that could be acquired extremely easily in today's world and even in the past, but due to the government's false belief that it is a very complex thing, people avoid it like a disease. To resolve this ignorance, which has the potential to devastate the country and even the world, if this continues, government may become more centralized. Centralized means that our national government would become the single government, or the president would take on many more powers that were previously scattered among the branches of government. How the English Parliament works. This would solve the problem of apathetic beliefs towards politics, as the president could cause a lot more problems nationwide than in the past (although even now the president can cause a lot of problems to arise), so they want to make sure to rotate them..
