Topic > Cultural and learning environment in a third grade...

Learning environment Within the walls of my third grade classroom there is a lot to learn. I am lucky enough to be in a classroom without windows to look out and daydream. Since there is a lot to learn, I have organized 27 desks where students have easy access to move around and also to be able to talk in groups with the students around them. These desks are arranged so that they can move around easily and help students during individual or group work. The first row has three desks, then an island followed by three desks. The second and third rows both have five student desks. I then curve a row starting from the back and working my way up to the front of the room creating my outer rows where the student desks face the board and a corner. This way I have a circulation path where I walk inside and which allows me to be close to all the students. On the north side of the classroom I have a large kidney-shaped table where students can sit as a group. I can host small groups and can work with students individually. On the south side of the classroom are three classroom computers. There is a projector where I can connect from my classroom computer to the board. The classroom is also equipped with a sound system where I wear a microphone to help carry my voice throughout the classroom ensuring that students in the back are able to hear instructions. There is also a student microphone that can be passed from student to student while reading or answering questions. Each student has a NEO which is a small keyboard with a small screen. The NEO is also connected to the classroom computer and the level of instruction... middle of the paper... when they return and tests them on the skills we learned while they were in Mexico. Then I will give individual instruction on the concepts that have gaps. This third guideline is to ensure that all students feel satisfied and successful in school. As teachers we ensure that students of all academic levels succeed. It may not be consistently successful, although it is enough success to keep them excited to learn and willing to take risks. This is key to making it fun and engaging for students, as well as helping them succeed during the winter months. To help students succeed, students are leveled for reading and math where they work in small groups at the level they are at. By getting help and understanding the concept, academic success increases, making students want to learn and take risks.
