1. Write a paragraph describing the mission you believe God has called you to complete. What is your vision for the next chapter of your ministry? From the age of five, I felt God's special calling to fully dedicate my life to His work. What I initially thought was a single life serving as an overseas missionary in a third world country. As God has shaped me according to my calling, I can see how He has shifted my focus from international missions to include being a missionary in my American culture. In preparing me for this duality of calling, God orchestrated my life so that I could connect with my husband. As Kyle's wife, part of my purpose is to help him fulfill his calling to revitalize and plant churches. Within this framework, God has brought out in me a passion to serve His Church and unchurched people through the realm of counseling and psychology. I believe God has called me to the mission of restoring, renewing, and revitalizing relationships, especially regarding sexuality. This is an area of great need for both Christians and pre-Christians. In this next chapter, I see God working to further define how I am to fulfill His mission by counseling people within our congregation, creating an atmosphere of openness to discuss relationship issues within the community, and seeking further training and development of my consultancy skills through higher education (masters and long-term PhDs).2. Write a paragraph describing the strengths you need to build on. How are you using them right now to fulfill God's calling on your life? One of my greatest strengths is the ability to feel emotions, thus showing compassion and empathy...... middle of paper.... ..consulting with Abraham about what he was going to do in the judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah. What is incredible about this dialogue is that Abraham actually negotiates with God to the point of sparing the cities if only ten righteous people were found living in them. Even though God's judgment on these wicked cities is ultimately carried out, the influence Abraham had with God for his faithfulness testifies to the truth of what James said in chapter 5 verse 16: "The prayer of a righteous person can achieve a lot." This teaches me that I must approach God as a friend with whom I can converse rather than as a cosmic delivery boy. It also helps me learn that my prayers on behalf of others can be effective if my heart is in tune with the heart of God. My faithfulness must be like that of Abraham, trusting God to the point of sacrifice, believing that God's purposes will be realized for my good.
