First I want to say that I was a little hesitant in choosing this book. The saying "you can't judge a book by its cover" also applies to this book. Seeing the size of the book, I thought I couldn't read it in ten days. The cover shows what I thought was a hot air balloon. The first connection I made to the book was from the images on the cover. I viewed the images of The Wizard of Oz before I even opened the first page. As I read the book and looked at its spectacular illustrations, I was enchanted by its story and found it difficult to put the book down. I read the book in less than three nights. . While reading this book, I found myself describing what I saw in the photos with my wife. She joined in to tell her side of the story. This made reading the book fun. My wife thought I was crazy for reading it out loud to her. It turned out to be our interactive read aloud between the two of us.
