Integrating Technology in the County High School In recent years, schools have integrated technology into the classroom through new methods, ideas, grants and personal experience. Not only has it enriched the overall learning experience, but it has also proven effective in motivating and influencing students' desire to learn not only in the classroom but also outside. Through state and federal funding it is possible to make some of these seemingly impossible technological advances reach a small town like ours. Students across the country who have already been granted the privileges of receiving technology scholarships said it has helped them in five ways. In five ways the devices encouraged students to explore topics further, helped them manage time, provided new learning tools, made courses more interesting, and increased their learning. (Woke 1) Without expanding our educational technologies across the district to include things like iPads, laptops for every student, and social networks for use in the classroom we will not prepare the student body for the 21st century. Without a doubt County High School needs to transition to more 21st century oriented and hands-on classroom learning styles. The question is: what are the means to do this and how to integrate it into what we do now. It's a gradual process, but one of the first things we need to do is make sure every child has a laptop. This is extremely possible because Granville County School in North Carolina distributed 900 laptops to each student. (Granville 2) this is a great way to start introducing technology into schools by raising awareness among parents and students. Additionally, to ensure quality and response… middle of paper… social networks cite and access a broader spectrum of students to teach communication and student-to-student communication to discuss ideas. As far as bringing your own devices is a great idea because it saves the school money and we can still monitor your internet access. Also for disciplinary purposes if you do not comply with the updated version of the AEP you will lose your privileges to take your laptop home and the length of time will depend on the extent of the violation. The AEP should include items such as home use and broken, stolen, or lost devices administered to the student. if County High School comes together to create a unified, empowered student body that is willing to be educated and treat technology seriously, we will have a very high success rate in making 21st century learning work for us.
