They always complain that today's youth don't spend enough time outside playing or doing anything productive in their lives. They believe that young people are wasting precious time just sitting texting and talking on cell phones all the time. They misunderstand that technology has evolved and that the things they enjoyed fifty years ago are no longer of interest to today's youth. Furthermore, communication is different than it was then. Older people had only one telephone, and it was usually the home telephone. They didn't have computers and social media sites like they do now. If one wanted to talk to a friend, he should do so in front of everyone present in the house. There wasn't as much privacy then as there is now. Back then, using their home phone was their only way to communicate quickly, but now they can call, text, email, or chat with a friend on social media.
