Global AIDS CrisisWhat is the first thing that comes to mind when you think about the spread of AIDS around the world? AIDS is sometimes considered a “foreigner's disease,” coming from somewhere else and imported into isolated communities by wartime travelers and refugees. According to the book Global AIDS Crisis, studies conducted on all continents show that those who travel frequently are at greater risk of HIV/AIDS infection. Since the virus spread it has disturbed millions of people around the world. AIDS is an alarming disease caused by an infection called HIV. When it enters your body, it immediately attacks your immune system. AIDS is a very destructive disease and has spread rapidly around the world due to poverty, massive migration of people, war and other conflicts around the world, we must help find a cure. As a result, the virus has severely affected people in countries around the world, especially in Africa. In Africa there are thousands of medical facilities in South Africa and all have a high occupancy rate. Today in South Africa 80% of patients admitted to facilities are affected by HIV (“Impact of HIV and AIDS...”). People who work in these facilities, such as doctors and nurses, put themselves at risk because they are at risk of contracting HIV-related diseases. In Africa, demand for treatment of the disease is high and hospitals have very limited resources and training to treat HIV patients. When HIV first appeared, there were very few resources available for patients who needed help. However, African populations have also been severely affected by the virus. In the early stages of the virus many people in Africa were dying before they even turned 50... middle of paper... they could have done their part to prevent the infection from continuing to advance. When you get tested and the test comes back positive, you should be isolated and no longer be able to have sexual activity in your life. I think that would be a good place to start to help stop the spread of this disease. All countries should do everything in their power to prevent anyone else from getting AIDS. I believe that testing should be done on those who work in the medical field, even if they break the law, I truly believe that it would help slow down the advance of the virus even further. AIDS education should be allowed in every country in the world. What will happen is still unclear for sufferers who have been severely affected and drastically changed by this deadly virus. As a society, we can all contribute and do more to help stop the spread and progress of AIDS/HIV.
