The motto “Educating men and women for others” seems quite naive, it simply means that education is not only for oneself, but for the improvement of society and the improvement of life. future thanks to the actions we take thanks to our education. And when Fr. Pedro Arrupe states that "our first educational objective must be to train men and women for others, who believe that love of self and God that is not expressed in justice for the least of their neighbors is a farce" , it's completely TRUE. Those who say they love themselves or love God, but do not act on what they say by serving others are impostors because if one loves himself or God, then he understands that he is not alone in this world. Because of this knowledge they are driven to help others so that they too can achieve love for themselves or for God. This, however, is quite easy to say, but very difficult to put into practice, and for this reason anyone who acts according to the intuitions of p. Pedro Arrupe, he is a good role model. One such person who fits the profile established by Fr. Pedro Arrupe would be my cousin Sedona. She, like any other relative, grew up in a fairly normal family. She liked the beach, I saw her at Christmas and birthdays, but other than that, her life was pretty normal. Then, when he turned 18, during the summer of 2012, he had the idea of going to Kenya, Africa, to volunteer at an orphanage in Ngnong to help rehabilitate and educate vulnerable children, including many they live on the streets. That summer she was introduced to the work of the Londosit Education Initiative, LEI, an initiative of which she would become an integral part. Then she returned to Kenya in 2013 to work on the street children's project, Ahadi Education Center, and then officially... in the middle of paper... with a Kenyan team that takes care of them. SHE provides education to the kids and also works with the Kenyan team to provide food and shelter. This is all great, but how will it make me a better college student? I'm not sure if it will or not, all I know is that knowing someone close to me like a cousin is having these experiences and is benefiting from this awareness cannot erase bad thoughts and feelings from me. It provides a model of one of the aspects that a well-rounded individual should have. Now, whether or not this translates into a good student is to be determined, but at the very least it helps me become a better person. A person not necessarily interested exclusively in himself, but rather in society; and furthermore, it allows me to have the experience to decide what actions to take in the best interests of all parties.
