Contemporary Australian society does not exception as recent developments in the military composition have revealed a gap in gender equality among other gender-sensitive issues The Australian Defense Force (ADF) is grappling with increasing cases of misconduct and violations of women's rights following the. recent sex scandals involving military cadets and a very low number of female recruits. The revelations have sparked strong reactions among those involved in the leadership of the Australian Defense Force Academy (ADFA) and the ADF generally. In addition to sexual predation, other problems that have been brought to light include alcoholism among male and female military personnel, and intimidation and bullying of female officers. Amidst all this chaos within a highly regarded institution like the ADF, the question arises as to whether the scenario reflects contemporary Australian society. Therefore, this article attempts to discuss these issues in light of the degree to which ADF culture reflects contemporary Australian society.
