The Death Penalty in DeclineThe United States adopted capital punishment from England more than three centuries ago. Not only had the punishment been adopted but also the methods of execution. Over the centuries, the people of the United States have become increasingly aware of how the criminal justice system works and it varies from state to state. Some states executed people for committing minor crimes, such as stealing fruit. Maybe people would disagree with me, but I believe the death penalty has helped prevent criminals from committing some capital crimes. Even though the US Supreme Court has abolished the death penalty for juveniles and the mentally disabled, it seems difficult to stabilize the number of executions. Furthermore, the role of religion in capital punishment appears to be declining. Does a murderer consider the possibility of the death penalty before committing a crime? Perhaps the answer would be based on the killer's motive for breaking the law. However, there were only a few studies regarding criminology and its factors. However, today more educated people are influencing the structure of capital punishment through more detailed research. Regardless, Gaines and Millers argue that some of the reports from the 2000s state that "each execution deters three to eighteen future murders" (274). The ideology of the death penalty has changed over the years and especially after the 1930s. Maybe because the Justice Department only started counting in the 1930s. Furthermore, it has been confirmed that "there is no reliable count of executions before 1930" (Banner 313). However, since some studies indicate that each execution discourages from three to eighteen future murders, the death penalty seems... at the center of the paper... we beliefs, which to be implemented, have been interpreted in the form of orders. In conveying the idea that the role of religion is in decline, Banner argues that "the retributive justification of the death penalty has meanwhile been further eroded by the declining role of religion in public life (213). In this sense, the existence of the death penalty facilitates the dissuasion of criminals". After analyzing execution rate results since 1947, it is difficult to stabilize the number of executions at low rates despite the removal of juveniles and the mentally disabled from perhaps collapsing death row. Therefore, the death penalty seems to be decreasing, although not all states seem to benefit from the changes made by the Department of Justice over the centuries..
