Global Marine Systems is a course where I was able to benefit from the unique subjects offered at Otago. This would also fuel my interest in the environment and help me make connections between marine and terrestrial elements. Along with the academics that the University of Otago has to offer, there is a multitude of student clubs and organizations that would give me the opportunity to get involved on campus and meet other students with similar interests to mine. Although not located right in the mountains, the Otago Snow Sports Club would give me the opportunity to regularly go on mountain trips and ski alongside my peers. Another topic I would like to get involved in is animal rights. With groups including the Otago Student Animal Legal Defense Fund and the Veganism and Animal Rights Society, I would have countless opportunities to work with other students to promote animal welfare and be part of a cause I firmly believe in. Having thoroughly researched what The University of Otago has to offer, I believe this program meets both my academic and personal interests. Having the opportunity to develop my personal and professional skills in an international context will teach me new ways of approaching issues affecting my studies and reality
