Topic > Alternative Medicine: Junk Science - 1900

Alternative medicines are widely used throughout the world and are becoming more controversial every day. Alternative medicines are considered “junk science” in the eyes of some doctors. Not only do they see the drugs as “junk science,” they also fear that they could potentially be very dangerous. “Junk science” according to junkscience.com is “flawed scientific data and analysis used to advance special interests and hidden agendas.” In other words, “junk science” that practices or studies something without scientific evidence or without scientific evidence of the study. In the eyes of some doctors, alternative medicine does not exist; they are just therapeutic treatments that can be potentially dangerous. Doctors believe that alternative medicines can be potentially dangerous due to a lack of scientific evidence. Because there is no scientific evidence, they don't know the full potential of the treatment, they don't know the long-term effects, or whether the treatments can open doors to other diseases or bacteria. And you will end up with an illness that is worse than the reason you are taking the medicine. In addition to alternative medicines there are also complementary medicines. According to Wikipedia.com, complementary medicine is an alternative medicine used together with conventional medical treatment in the belief, not proven by scientific methods, that it “complements the treatment”. Complementary medicines are basically the companion of conventional medicines, they help conventional medicines work to the best of their ability, considering it as a Batman and Robin concept. Complementary medicine is there to help conventional medicines in areas where they are found... middle of paper... variety of shapes and forms. There are many different ways to take these medicines, ways as simple as inhaling the aromas of a hydrosol. Although some doctors believe that alternative medicines are just a waste of time and effort because they are “junk science,” they have effects on people that in most cases most medications do not. For example, medical marijuana is often prescribed to patients with eating disorders or who take medications that completely suppress their appetite. Alternative medicines may not have scientific evidence behind them, but they have a lot of visual evidence behind them. By visual evidence I mean the evidence provided by the patient's observation of the treatment, how they react to the treatment, does it help, will it cause long-term effects, etc. Alternative medicines are becoming more and more diverse and are multiplying like crazy and it is the medicine of Tomorrow.
