I was working in a field and started a conversation with a friend who has Asperger's syndrome about his experience with special education. He told me how long it took him to get into a program and how much those teachers had helped him become the person he was. The teachers were able to help him understand what he was learning and also life lessons. He and the other special needs children at the camp where I have worked in recent summers have instilled in me a stronger need to reach out to those in both special education and general education classrooms. This was again applied in the “Introduction to Special Education” class. I was taught even more that school isn't just about learning information, but about learning about yourself and how to grow into yourself. Every student is different and therefore every student must be seen as such
