This might seem obvious to many shoppers. But I believe that multitudes of people purchase items without ever considering that what they purchase could be found elsewhere for less. I too am guilty of assuming that Walmart has the best prices on everything. If I take some time to research a specific coffee maker, I can find prices from large chain stores like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Sears, along with other smaller retailers. (In some cases smaller stores' prices are lower.) Many stores' prices match, so if I prefer to shop at Walmart because I live near one, I can match them to the lower price of competing retailers. Additionally, many retailers offer free shipping on online orders that amount to a certain amount. Therefore, if it is not possible to physically visit the store with the lowest prices, shoppers can order items online at no additional cost. However, ordering from physical stores, whether physically or online, is not always the best option. Websites like Amazon and eBay have millions of items from multiple sellers. Sellers will compete with each other for the lowest price, often offering buyers a lower price than larger stores.
