The way gender shapes love can be seen from two different points of view, both exemplified in “The Power of Marriage.” The first is the aforementioned unfaithful identity of men. The second, however, takes a complete turn as it is the factor that determines how gender shapes love in regards to the LGBT community. In many states gays cannot marry and are ultimately socially unacceptable. Because of their gay identity, their love is shaped with complications that arise from the way most communities act towards the idea of ​​same-gender love. Because of their very gendered love, some communities are shaped to be non-accepting, while others are shaped to be accepting and supportive. Non-accepting communities usually show hatred which will eventually affect how lovers feel too. Another way same-gender love influences and shapes community is when other gay couples get the hope and confidence they need from the love of other supportive couples. Essentially, love in a community regarding gender will influence the community to be mischievous or the love will spread and create a kind of refuge for other lovers of the same gender in the same community.
