The only previous classroom experience I have had was supporting and organizing a small workshop with high school students while a teacher was present. Now I was being asked to plan and manage my own lessons without any support or training. Not only was this unfair to me, but it was also a disservice to the students. The district where these students attend school is historically underserved and therefore cannot provide its teachers and students with the adequate support for success.
