Our cities have little external involvement in the lives of many displaced families. Homelessness is a continuous cycle that causes homeless people to associate with other displaced homeless people. Homeless people return daily for social service needs, housing, and do not make enough effort to sustain a quality life. Starting over can introduce families to an effective approach to learning methods to begin steps toward supporting stable living in everyday society. The use of buildings can help homeless people to have a better perception of themselves, when dealing with society or employers, vocational training through an adult education programme, while providing shelter. (Edin & Lein, 1997). This use of empty buildings is a good expense to make available to the homeless. Use will help stop the further growth of displaced families, open up free or low-cost services needed to sustain a quality life, and give homeless people a place to start over. It takes a community to step up to stop the further development of homelessness. In many communities, abandoned buildings often become temporary camps. The use of these buildings justifies the need for structures to house those who find themselves on the streets. Many people have found housing as homeless people in warming shelters or some type of transitional housing. Analyzing the statistics, 38% of the homeless were homeless, housed in vehicles, abandoned buildings, somewhere on the street and even in public places unsuitable for living. The National Alliance to End Homelessness found that the increase has not changed; its most recent statistics increased from 2011 to 2012. (Henry and Sermons, 2010) An open facility decreases the rate of homelessness, lowering the repetitive cycle. Being... halfway... having the ability to have a home to settle your family takes a lot of pressure off relationships, reducing drug and alcohol abuse. Knowing that they have someone willing to give them a chance is what makes the difference. Webpage Cited: Henry, M., & Sermons, S. (2010). The State of Homelessness in America 2013.
