After completing this teacher work sample and reviewing the results of all assessments, I have learned a great deal of valuable information about my teaching and on student learning that made it possible for me to further develop and grow as a future physical educator. One thing I have learned from my students' learning is that all students progress, develop, and learn at different rates. In teaching this Drums Alive unit, I noticed that some students were able to pick up the Drums Alive skills and concepts right away, while others needed more time to develop further in the unit. Because of this variety of student learning and at different paces, I have had to plan and create my own lessons, activities, and routines to accommodate each student's abilities while still challenging all students in the class. Another thing I learned about my teaching during this Drums Alive Unit is that as a teacher you need to be able to teach across many different learning styles. In each classroom, each student has a unique way of learning which could be through one or more learning styles such as physical, verbal, visual, auditory, social, solitary or logical learning. As a teacher, I have taught each of these different types of learning styles during the Drums Alive Unit to maximize the amount of student learning. During this Drums Alive Unit, I learned that it is very important to develop a unit block plan in order to organize the lessons and objectives of the unit. Since I had a block plan, it was very easy to teach and stay focused on my lesson and all the information and skills I wanted each student to master by the end of certain lessons. Furthermore, from this Drums Alive Unit I learned that the conclusion of the lessons is v... halfway between paper... and physical health. I have also learned that, as a future physical educator, I am able to assess my students in all areas and use my different types of assessments to demonstrate student learning. In the future, I will defiantly evaluate my students using pre, formative, and post assessments to be able to determine their growth and progress as student learners. As a student teacher, I have grown and progressed throughout the course of this Drums Alive Unit. At the beginning of the unit I was more reserved when I taught, but as the unit continued, I began to be more relaxed, balanced and confident in what I taught. From this Drums Alive Unit, I know that I will be able to take all my new assessment strategies as well as my new teaching qualities with me and use them with my future students as a future physical education professional.
