Lindsay Lohan was born on July 2, 1986. She is the eldest of 4 children and her parents are divorced. Her father wasn't much of a part of her life growing up and to this day she has nothing to do with him. Lohan was a rising star who began her acting career at the age of three. She starred in many commercials before showing off her fabulous acting skills when she appeared in the remake of The Parent Trap in 1998. She took some time off after this performance to be a "normal" kid. After dropping out of high school, he had a few big screen acting jobs and some extra filming on daytime television (Current Biography, 2005). Lohan wanted to make sure she created a good image because she knew her audience. the most desired was the younger “tween” audience. Plus, her younger sister looked up to her, so Lohan wanted to make sure she was setting a good example; all while wanting to be normal and not create a false image (Current Biography, 2005). Lindsay Lohan has received a lot of attention for her drinking and driving problems and her partying lifestyle. Many people will focus on these things, but what is the underlying cause? From a psychodynamic perspective, Lohan's addiction to drugs and alcohol dates back to childhood. Lohan had both parents, mother Dina Lohan and father Michael Lohan. Dina Lohan was very present in Lindsay's young life and is still a part of her life now. Michael, on the other hand, was very absent. Although he was able to provide his family with a comfortable living by selling a profitable pasta business, he was very consumed by his position on Wall Street (Current Biography, 2005). Lohan is dealing with "deep-rooted issues with her father," an insider said of her inner heart... middle of paper... to really work through her issues. She also doesn't have a very stable support group to keep her grounded, so she may end up falling because they don't help support her. He may not even want to leave the party scene, so it could be a big struggle. He has the need to be among people, which in turn is filled by the party scene. It would be difficult for her to satisfy that need if she didn't get out. On another note, these treatments would be very successful if she actually participated. If she was truly committed to getting better and participated fully in therapy and stopped frequenting the areas that stimulated her substance abuse problem, she would be fine in life. She may need ongoing therapy and support, but she would become the successful actress she has wanted to be for a long time; and the community has long wanted it to be too.
