Topic > Essay on Parenting Styles - 772

Diana Baumrind (1967) was a psychologist who organized a study to identify 3 different types of parenting styles. One of these is the authoritarian parent who focuses mainly on being strict and following their own rules. Sometimes this may make the child feel helpless and think that his parents are unfair to him. Another style is that of the permissive parent. This style has its advantages and disadvantages as parents would have little control over the children and would mostly rely on the children managing their own behavior. And the ultimate parenting style is rejecting and neglectful parenting. The parents will have no control over the child and will not show any interest in his life. Both of these styles can change children's behavior and build their identity. When authoritarian parent can control children's achievements and set the goal they should achieve, permissive parents mainly care about children's feeling and independence, what could be a good skill for the future
