The many stakeholders in this case include George, the City of Hondo, current employees, the environment, and the company. George has moved his family and risks losing his position if the company is moved to another location. It is faced with the decision to continue to allow emissions to exceed EPA guidelines, in its current position, by scheduling heavy emissions work at night, thus causing more damage to the environment. Furthermore, if he ordered the company to move to the new headquarters, the environment would still be affected on the American side. By continuing to be above the reference level of emissions, the environment, employees and citizens suffer. “The environmental problems that managers face are not simply about trees, water and birds. These problems affect all people, including managers themselves." (eGuide, p.2) Furthermore, employees are stakeholders because they risk losing their source of income. Ultimately, the company is an affected party because it must face the costs of relocation or continue to face fines. Every stakeholder's interest is a loss of money and the environment continues to be affected. According to the Kaplan eGuide, the Clean Air Act applies to this case because of the emissions and their ongoing effect on the environment and people. The company in this case would be held liable if it continued to allow smokestack emissions to remain above the allowable level set by the EPA. By not investing in new chimney scrubbers, the company will continue to be above the emission level and therefore continue to face fines. Additionally, if violations result in environmental damage, legal action could be taken, including... middle of paper... requirements reduce the risk of the company being sued by private citizens or the EPA .Following recommendations, as established by the EPA, allows them to follow standards and contribute to solutions. As the eGuide states, “They also require that companies identify measures to reduce pollution.” (eGuide, p.5) Therefore, by modernizing the chimneys rather than moving them to another location, which will continue to contribute to high levels of emissions, the company is recognized as making a contribution to finding the solution. In conclusion, even if we continue to fight the effects of air pollution, if every company and individual continues to contribute their ideas, hope for the environment will stop deteriorating so quickly.Works CitedKaplan EGuide.
