Topic > Agriculture in Malaysia - 2694

INTRODUCTION1.0 IntroductionHere in the introductory chapter eight main areas will be presented. The first section will contain a brief explanation of the context of the study, the second section will present the problem statement. Research objectives, research questions, hypotheses, and significance of the study are outlined in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth sections. On the left is the seventh section which elaborates on the scope of the study and the final section describes the definition of terms and key terms used throughout the thesis in the summary. 1.1 Context of the study Agriculture refers to activities that produce food and feed livestock by people. There are several functional means to find out that agriculture is the process of producing food by growing green and increasing livestock. In some countries, agriculture is still largely based on traditional methods. The area depends on agriculture for most of its income. Self and Grabowski (2006) stated that the role of agriculture in the overall process of economic development has been a much discussed topic. In closed models of economic development, agriculture is seen as a supplier of some things necessary for the expansion of the modern industrial sector; food, savings, etc. From an open economy perspective, the role of agriculture is much more ambiguous. In an open environment many of the necessary things discussed above can be imported from outside through foreign investment, imports, etc. Therefore the role of agriculture is much more ambiguous. In this article it will be argued that the role of agriculture in the economic development process is much more subtle than previously perceived in the literature. Specifically, there is a link between agriculture and the institution... at the center of the paper ...... the cultural sector as an independent variable. To analyze the role of agriculture in economic development in Malaysia, this study uses annual data from selected years. This data and information is obtained from Index Mundi, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and other time series and information sources from the Internet.1.8 Summary In this chapter, we found that agriculture is the process of producing food by growing the plantation and increasing the livestock for consumption. So different countries like China, Malaysia and Africa have different types of agricultural system and their own industry. In Malaysia, examples of agricultural sectors that contribute to the economy are palm oil, milled rice, centrifugal sugar and coconut oil. This contribution will ultimately be measured using GDP and annual data from 1982 to 2011.
