Design Analysis EssayBCM 110In this essay I will analyze the poster of the movie "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl". This film was released in 2003 directed by Gore Verbinski and was a huge success at the box office and had great reviews. It also made Johnny Depp the superstar he is now and stars other actors like Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. The genre of the film is an action-adventure film with many other elements. As we can see, the main colors used in the poster are gold and red, which fits the theme of the film which is about different pirates. The color gold can refer to the golds and jewels that the pirates in the film seek and the color red can connote the plundering of ships and the destruction of lands, which is what the film is about. Starting from the top we can see the name of the main protagonists of the film. Under each actor's name we can see the photo of them in their character's costumes. This shows that they are the main actors of the film and play an important role in the story. Showing the main actors of the film in the poster is a great way to attract people to watch the film as the female audience would definitely watch the film with attractive people like Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom in the cast and it also suggests that there would be some story love between Keira Knightley and someone else. The other important thing we can see is that the boy in the center, played by Johnny Depp, is holding a sword and a gun and wearing a bandana. This obviously means that first of all it could have a more impactful role than the others and that is why it is in the middle. Secondly, holding a weapon shows the...... center of the card......r. Despite being dark and with all the fighting and destruction, it is a Disney film, which means this film is suitable for both young people and adults. This is a fantastic poster because it provides all the information people need to decide whether or not to watch a movie. References Javed, E. (2011, September 13). Analysis of the film poster.
