CHAPTER-4 GENDER INEQUALITY IN THE WORKPLACEThe old aphorism: “The consumer is not a moron; she is your wife” needs to be rephrased: “The consumer is not a moron; she is your BOSS." How did this development come about? The most significant reason for this development was the dawn of the consumer era. Today, it is neither industry nor the government sector that drives the economy. The spending and saving in the domestic sector have become the driving force of the urban industrial economy. The growing economic power and autonomy of women are also giving her more power in the boardrooms because she is the consumer and understands both the needs of the family that those of the family as well as another woman better than men have controlled the corporate world to this day, but are now forced to deal with the fact that women can now contribute to corporate profits as well as, if not better than, men have evolved dramatically since their hesitant entry into the corporate world through "soft" jobs, more in line with their roles at home - stereotypes such as "care" jobs such as welfare work, cosmetic jobs such as public relations and receptionists, creative jobs such as advertising and salaried jobs/ enslaved as the works of secretariat/clerks. Today, however, women have integrated into every field of endeavor and every type of industry seamlessly and skillfully. Whether they travel twenty days a month or accept transfers, they are as performance-oriented, sincere, competent and persevering as their male colleagues, if not more so.
