I have a little more realistic goals than when I was younger. I grew up, settled down and realized that becoming a flight attendant is not good for having a family. Being gone all the time wouldn't have been very good. My career choice is now driven by passion and having a rewarding career that will help others. I'm also looking for a fun career, something that gives me the flexibility to do other things. I feel that becoming an academic advisor will open doors for me to have a rewarding and flexible career. 4. Consider the personality traits listed in Question 1. How do these traits compare to those needed for your childhood dream career? How do they fit into your revised adult vision? The personality traits I selected fit well with my childhood dream career. It is important to be trustworthy as a marine biologist. Not only do your colleagues depend on you to be there to function, but the animals depend on you too. Reliability is a good trait to have, no matter what career path you choose. Being open to change and having new ideas is a good trait to have. I feel that the traits I have chosen fit my revised adult vision. Caring, open-minded, reliable, and approachable are all positive characteristics to have as an academic/school counselor. I imagine there will be times when my buttons are pushed and changes are made where I will need these good quality strokes.
