Millions and millions of years have passed since dinosaurs roamed the Earth and they continue to capture the imagination and attention of scientists and researchers from all over the world. Large, small, omnivorous, herbivorous or carnivorous, dinosaurs came in different sizes and with different backgrounds. Many dinosaurs lived millions of years ago and only a few are known. While everyone has heard of the Tyrannosaurus Rex or Triceratops, there are many other unique and interesting dinosaurs to learn about. One of the most fascinating dinosaur species that isn't often talked about is Troodon formosus. Troodon formosus looked like a cross between a bird and a bird of prey. “Troodon is Greek for “hurting tooth,” a reference to the single incisor by which it was originally known” (Troodon: the only dinosaur that could pronounce its own name). Scientists believe the dinosaur was feathered and was relatively small, only about six feet long and three feet tall, weighing between 100 and 130 pounds. The researchers also believe that Troodon formosus was nocturnal and had some depth perception thanks to its large, forward-facing eyes (Troodon). Troodon formosus also had foldable arms that resembled the wings of modern birds. Troodon formosus had a U-shaped jaw with serrated teeth and sharp claws on a pair of toes (dinosaur Troodon Formosus). The first fossils of Troodon were found as... in the center of the paper... say its name). Troodon formosus was a unique dinosaur that is not always discussed during common scientific conversations about dinosaurs. Works Cited "Troodon".
