Topic > The Knights and the Miller's Tale in Chaucer's The...

The tales I chose were the Knights' Tale and the Millers' Tale. I chose the Knight's tale because I wanted to hear a love story and I chose the Miller's tale because I thought it was quite funny. Disturbing, but fun. The story I chose to win was The Tale of the Knights because it's about love and chivalry, it's also appropriate, and I think the host would enjoy his story. In the prologue he talks about how the host was, like I want someone who will have a good story to follow and the Miller who is always drunk said he would go and the host said no, so the Miller offered to go . The host, being the nice guy he is, said he could go so as not to leave. In the Tale of the Knights he tells the story of a king named Theseus who ruled the city of Athens. One day these four women came to Theseus' kingdom and knelt before him and began to cry. The older women looked at the king with tears in their eyes telling him of the loss of their husbands who were killed in the city of Thebes. The lord of Thebes, Creon, dishonored them by refusing to cremate or even bury them. Theseus goes to Thebes and conquers it and after doing so brings the bones of the four dead husbands to their wives. Theseus found two Theban soldiers on the battlefield near death. Instead of killing them, he settled them all and put them in prison. The enemy soldiers are relatives, they have been in prison for several years. One of the prisoners falls in love with Theseus' sister-in-law and is heartbroken because he cannot see her. The other prisoner also falls in love with her, they both argue here, but realize that there is no point because both of them are in prison. Later Mercury arrives at Theseus' prison and says to Arcite(...... center of paper ......I won because it's a story about people supporting each other and how others fall in love and would anything for the love of a special woman. Miller's story is about a rude Carpenter and his wife who sleeps on him. It's about how his wife sleeps with him, their roommate Nicholas, and an employee who he always buys her things and gives her money.I think the Carpenters wife is just getting all she can get from any man from the carpenter she gets a house and a hard working man From Nicholas she gets the excitement of sneaking around and the love of a strong young man who gets gifts and money leave these women alone and move on with their lives So I would say Knight won because his story was appropriate, and it wasn't about sleeping around and he wasn't drunk when l 'he said..
