History of the Organization and the NameOriginally called the Boston Braves, the Washington Redskins remain known for their legacy and team history. Under the ownership of George Person Marshall, Vincent Bendix, Jay O'Brien and Dorland Dolye, the Boston Braves were born as part of the NFL franchise in 1932. Shortly thereafter, in 1933, they renamed the Boston Redskins, followed by another name change when reestablished in Washington D.C. as the Washington Redskins in 1937; and made Griffith Stadium his new home. Over the decades, the professional football team achieved numerous NFL championship titles, such as Super Bowl victories in 1983, 1988, and 1992. The Redskins became highly recognized and attracted a new fan base around the world. the country creating its own radio and television network in 1944 and 1950. They also remain famous for their magnificent marching band that entertains fans in the stadium by performing the team's fight songs such as "Hail to the Redskins." Joe Gibbs took over in 1981 and after an 11-year hiatus returned in 2003. Under Gibbs' leadership, the Redskins won numerous championships and were awarded the NFC title over the Cowboys, one of the biggest highlights of Gibbs' career as a head coach. Name controversy In recent years, the Redskins have faced controversy over their name as racially charged and derogatory to Native American culture. Local Native American tribes believe the name "Redskins" is a racial slur aimed at their ethnicity when they were forced to stop practicing their traditions and cultures. Even though the Redskins have had their name for the last 81 years, over the last decade Native American tribes and Congress have expressed the need for ... in the middle of the paper ... and on ballots to fill out their own ballot forms base information along with an email address to allow them to vote only once in the survey. Summary Through this campaign we expect to increase acceptance and awareness of the Redskins brand. This promotion of interactive fan voting is a key element in enhancing the team's brand identity in hopes of having a team name that is accepted locally and nationally. In addition to nationwide acceptance, we expect merchandise and apparel to increase 10% and overall we will gain new and loyal renewed Redskins fans.
