Imagine being bored one day early in the morning. Grab your favorite magazine, the latest edition of the widely recognized Vogue magazine. On the cover, as always, there is a wonderful woman. She's dressed in a gold, sparkly dress (which probably costs more than you earn in a year) and even more expensive, elegant heels. Her hair and makeup are obviously professionally done, and she looks absolutely beautiful lying provocatively on a large bed with a rabbit on either side. And then you realize something: it's not a woman you're looking at; she's a girl, she's 10 years old! (“10-year-old Vogue model: cute or kind of weird?”). You immediately feel revulsion and shame at the thoughts you had about the woman in this photo just seconds ago (that is, before you realized exactly how young and innocent this girl really is). These emotions are followed almost immediately by disgust and amazement at the photoshoot, and several alarming questions begin to form in your head: Why did Vogue choose such a young model? Why is she dressed so inappropriately at such a young age? Do the girl's parents agree? How can a parent agree with this? In today's society, women tend to be hypersexualized and, in severe cases, treated more like objects of desire from a well-choreographed fantasy than real human beings. Some women like this type of mentality and openly support it; some do not share the same point of view but are free to express their opinions on the topic and protest against being treated as sexual objects. This is all pretty straightforward and simple for adult women; however the real dilemma arises when we consider young girls. Before a girl turns 18 and... middle of paper......keting to Kids”). The government is obligated to take care of all its people, and by extension, it must certainly take care of those who cannot speak for themselves, such as girls. Therefore, I think that the government must take serious action to defend these girls from the media and that any industry found guilty of child exploitation should be heavily fined. All in all, the government has the power to greatly influence how young teenagers are portrayed in the media today. With the widespread effect of media today, it is essential to ensure that it does not negatively affect girls. It is the government's responsibility to make sure that all its citizens are well taken care of and quite happy. Therefore it is imperative that you speak on behalf of those who have no voice, protecting girls from the wrath of today's media.
