“Our current unemployment situation matches the Oxford dictionary definition, financial support is provided to those who are unemployed or in need. Nowadays people who receive welfare think it's a right, and not welfare, because people who receive welfare think they earned it simply by getting money from the government” (Einhorn). Recipients do not recognize the fact that welfare is not intended for those who receive it. they are too lazy to find a job; it's only meant for people who simply can't or who have been laid off for a few months. “The five requirements for collecting unemployment are as follows: be able to work, be involuntarily out of work, available to work, and currently looking for work” (Einhorn). The program, created around the 1930s, was intended to provide only income for weekly necessities such as food, clothing, and shelter (Einhorn). One of the disadvantages of this is that the longer the government provides this, the longer it will take for an individual to accept a job. A study by the Danish Economic Council established that a person waits until special benefits expire before taking a job (Einhorn).
