Legal Responsibility 0f Parents Parents should and should not be held legally responsible for the actions of their children. Incompetent parents and parents themselves who are part of the system should be held accountable for the actions of their children. Handicapped parents and competent parents should not be held responsible for the actions of their children. Parents who do not raise their children should be held accountable. There are parents who don't care what the child does as long as they're not in the middle of it. They are too involved in their career or life to care what the child does. Often the child acts to get attention. Most parents believe that taking their child to therapy will solve the problem, without seeking counseling themselves. Parents do not take on the disciplinary role. Either they had a child by accident or they had one for their significant other, when in reality they didn't want children. Holding them accountable teaches the parent a lesson. The parent learns that even though he or she has tried to ignore the problem, the problem is there and that he or she needs to take time out to listen to the child. The child will also pay for his actions, whether by the parent or possibly the law. Parents who are part of the system should also be held accountable.
