Home Energy Optimization With frequent load shading and unplanned power outages in the country it becomes clear that the energy crisis has not been fully resolved. Since domestic homes still use electricity without caution, high energy consumption remains a bigger problem. An investigation will be conducted to identify a household utility that uses large amounts of electricity and find alternative ways to reduce energy consumption1 IntroductionSouth Africa is one of the countries facing a crisis in the energy sector, with recurring problems such as load shading and Unplanned power outages in the country, it is clear that South Africa's energy consumption is at its highest levels. In South Africa energy has been taken for granted, which has led to higher than normal energy consumption, in return Eskom has struggled to continuously provide power for the country due to the shortage of electricity to supply. The problem of high energy consumption has not been solved with a large number of residences still using electricity carelessly and carefree, much can be done to improve electricity usage and reduce energy consumption. It then becomes much clearer that you can start taking precautions about your energy consumption and start making changes to the way you use electricity in your homes to help reduce the country's energy consumption. The objective of this paper is to investigate the household appliance that uses a large amount of electricity and find alternative ways to reduce electricity consumption by that particular utility. The rest of the paper is organized as follows. In the next section the context of the problem is provided...... middle of the paper ......t Eskom during peak hours, had to implement the use of renewable technologies in our household as they reduce high consumption of electricity. It is in our interest to reduce energy consumption and save electricity to help reduce peak hours and ensure the future availability of electricity in our country.4 Reference[1] Albe B, Ernst U, Les B, Standby energy consumption of household appliances in South Africa.
