Topic > Human Rights in Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card is a novel that shows what would happen if the government had too much power and had a powerful perspective on inequality and child labor. My novel taught me a lot about inequality, as did my research. But I discovered a lot about my main point; child labor. Child labor affects everyone without them even knowing it. I'm sure you unknowingly purchased something that helps people who do these things to people. America is full of shops selling clothes made by children, but it's not just us... maybe the things happening in Africa, where most of the cases are arriving, some light needs to be shed on them. In Africa they use children to cut down large trees, or in sweatshops... really it's any job that can help them support their families. That's why most kids do these things, it's necessary, to keep their families alive and prevent them from dying of things like AIDS/HIV (they get money for treatment) or just starving. Most of the "big guys" in the government of the larger states (like America or Europe) want "free trade", which is basically where there will be fewer regulations for the exchange of goods. But this would also mean that small and/or poor places would have a very negative effect and many workers would be left without jobs, meaning that people would rush to find more workers and who would they turn to? Children. That's why there are still a lot of people fighting against it, which is good. It would be a real shame for kids if more and more of them had to do these things or were kidnapped and forced to do them. Children who are paid get a very low salary compared to adults working in industries, here is something to think about. Let's say you go to the store, to... middle of paper... do these things. There are also people trying to put an end to this. My book really shed light for me on the topic of child labor and I'm happy I read it and learned everything I did. I think it would be a great book for anyone and it's a great problem that anyone, even you and me, could help with.
