Nowadays, women in general are said to be more spiritual. Men seem to abandon their relationship with God much more quickly, as Parker points out “count to ten and the man gets bored” (6). In today's generation, men are fickle. It is not considered masculine to have a total relationship with the Lord. Even in church today I see many men who hold back because they consider living to serve the Lord feminine. As I sat in the pews of my church just last Sunday, with my arms stretched toward the sky, openly praying and praising God, I looked at the men around me and saw distracted looks on their faces. The room was filled mostly with women and most of the men seemed only there to please their significant other. I also remember seeing someone lounging on their cell phone. I remember bravely begging my ex-husband to come to church with me. I wanted so much for him to have a relationship with the Lord and be the spiritual leader of our home, as he once had.
