Topic > Public Policy Topic: Health Care - 2400

Over the decades there have been many public policy topics in our society that have had a very broad impact on the country as a whole. These are the reasons Americans have prospered or fallen back into recession. Health is one of the most discussed public policy issues. Health care is a topic that affects local and state governments for many reasons. First and foremost, healthcare is insurance for injured or sick people. Each county has its own type of health care. There are many different types of healthcare organizations offered to people all over the world. Some of these organizations include: the health maintenance group, the provider group, and a proposal that combines aspects of both the health maintenance group and the provider group. The most important type of health insurance is a universal health plan. Universal healthcare is what will ultimately save Americans a great deal of money and will also ensure that every American is insured. The number of uninsured citizens has grown to more than 40 million people. Health care is becoming unaffordable and we can eliminate unnecessary inadequacies. A centralized national database can be established to make life easier for doctors, and medical professionals will only have to worry about patience and not who pays for people's drugs. There are many people today who don't like the idea of universal healthcare and refuse to get it. America is known for having the best doctors, and people fear that the situation will change dramatically if we all share a single universal healthcare plan. Furthermore, if insurance were to decline in the universal health plan, taxes would skyrocket and therefore the money saved would end up being used for taxes. According to “Should the government provide free universal healthcare to all Americans?” Joe Messerli says that “The government has to pay for this somehow” (Messerli). I agree with this because the government will need money to fund this universal healthcare plan. In universal healthcare the patient may be responsible for some costs at the time of consumption, but most of the cost is covered by compulsory insurance and tax revenues. Providing health services for the entire country requires a lot of funding that other governments obtain through taxation and perhaps also from premiums for some of the compulsory health insurance required of all citizens.
