Successful social studies teachers are always looking for ways to improve their current knowledge and keep up with the best pedagogical developments. A successful social studies teacher will incorporate elements relevant to his or her inquiry into lessons to help students understand concepts and not simply add them all at the end to confuse them. If you're a successful social studies teacher, you'll use a number of different approaches to teaching students, for example you wouldn't just do all the hands-on lessons or all the writing lessons, but they'll mix it all up and you'll have a little bit of everything in there. To be a successful social studies teacher you cannot be closed-minded, you must be open-minded to be able to put personal opinions aside and give students a fair chance to make up their own minds about how they feel about issues or topics. They need to be able to show all the points and not just the things they think are relevant or relevant
