Topic > The role of creative leadership - 735

ImaginationIn this chapter I mainly describe what creative leadership is and what it consists of. Therefore, it might help answer my problem statement. Because here we find out what role creative leaders play in companies, if they matter at all. One of the important components for creativity is imagination. Without it you simply cannot be creative, because they are inseparable from each other. Without imagination you cannot create, because first you imagine something and then you start creating, you start thinking about how you can create what you imagine. Furthermore, when speaking about “what imagination is all about, Morgan “emphasized the following five points”” (Morgan): Imagination is about improving our abilities to see and understand situations in new ways, imagination is about finding new images for new ways of organizing, imagination is about creating shared understandings, imagination is about personal empowerment, and imagination is about developing skills for ongoing self-organization. So I'll try to describe some of them. First of all, each person imagines the same thing differently. For example, if we ask children, farmers, etc. to ask what pig it is, everyone answers differently. The children first think of the fable of the three pigs, the farmer says that the pig is the source of life and they look at the quality of the pig who can then sell the pig and earn money, and for the wolf the pig is food. This tells us that everyone has their own framework of understanding things in their own particular way. The same would be and with understanding what organization and management is all about, how to design and manage organizations, how to find a good way to communicate with your employees so that they listen to you. ...... middle of paper ...... with each other to achieve a goal. In other words, every team member understands that if they don't do their part, their work on time, the next step won't get done on time either. Furthermore, as Leigh Thompson states, “collaboration is the art and science of combining people's talents, skills and knowledge to achieve a common goal. Creative collaboration is the ability of teams and their leaders to organize, motivate, and combine talents to generate new and useful ideas.”(Thompson, p.1, 2013). As a result, in companies we have the kind of leaders who can find and incorporate people with different skills and knowledge into a team where they can work together and share their skills and knowledge with each other. Once finished, the team can tackle creative challenges and also be a valuable aid to the company's development and long-term survival.
