Today's technology extends to many different components that we are exposed to on a daily basis. There are three areas that I will discuss and go into detail about how technology has influenced sports, starting back in the 1800s. These improvements are more beneficial to more than just the fan experience. The areas I will discuss will highlight how technology has brought about significant improvements and benefits for coaches, athletes, referees, fans and stadiums. First, the technology has aided coaches and players in areas of athlete training, improvements, and rapid injury recovery. Coaches have transitioned from using whiteboards to tablets in the locker room, increasing the ability to demonstrate and show play-by-play details of different situations. Coaches have the ability to do side-by-side comparisons on the athletes they help train. The high-definition digital equipment allows coaches to have a better view and identify errors with the frame-by-frame option. Athletes are also taking advantage of the new technology. The new Nike Strobe glasses help athletes gain a competitive advantage. The Nike Strobe is an integrated method that allows the athlete to improve their sensory abilities and the ability to see better. (Newcomb, 2012) Athlete dying due to injuries may allow Doctors to use this new technology in Invasive Surgery. Injuries that required athletes to have a long recovery time now allow athletes to have a quicker recovery period. Equipment has also improved greatly in many different areas of the sport. Helmets were introduced in football to prevent skull fractures and subdural hematomas in the early 1900s. They have evolved over the last century from the vision of athletes and helping them focus on what they need to study and work on to improve athletic performance.
