As a leader I prefer to define a task, complete it and maintain effective relationships with my followers. As opposed to a manager, who simply delegates and never truly sets a friendly example among his followers. For example, back in high school I worked at a grocery store called Safeway and my manager literally sat in her office all day and barked orders. At the time, I was just a low-wage shop boy who didn't really know how the shop worked, so whenever I interacted with her I always felt uncomfortable. It instilled fear and discomfort in me; I feared her because she had my work in the palm of her hands and I felt uncomfortable talking to her due to the little interaction between the two of us. As a leader in this case I would at least find a way to motivate my followers and I would certainly have that leader-follower relationship. I personally believe that the way people treat others and the way they behave is due to their cultural background. Cultures are unique because of the subcultures within them. For example, wrestling taught me a number of key lessons: hard work, dedication, determination, humility, and perseverance. Wrestling is an individual sport, you win or you lose; only I can experience the emotions that flow through my head and body. Losing above all is a difficult thing to stomach in the sport of wrestling; it takes a sense of pride
