So, art; gallery, museum, sanctioned, is typically that of "high" culture. The urban phenomenon of street art (often called graffiti or illegal art) is becoming widely prevalent in our culture. Due to the often illegal nature and unwanted presence of street arts, the legitimacy of their being art is questioned. The dualistic premise of crime or art is contested. As a result, illegal art is often viewed as vandalism and intentional destruction of property. McAuliffe and Iveson (2011:130), suggest that "it could be both" crime and
