Hunger: Causes the death of many Africans. Since hunger in Africa became known, no solution has been found to quell this recurring problem. Most countries on the African continent face the problem of hunger. Ethiopia has been, and continues to be, one of the many victims of hunger. “The specter of famine has returned to the Horn of Africa almost a quarter of a century after the world's pop stars came together to chase it away at Live Aid, raising £150 million for relief efforts in 1985.” the 70s. While this does not pose a current danger to the majority of Ethiopia's population, many Ethiopians go without food at least once a week. While many proposals have not worked well, or been effective enough to end this difficult situation, there are still many other ways to effectively end hunger. There is no key solution to ending hunger. Every country in the world has different reasons as to why or how hunger started or is occurring in their country. The way to address hunger is to study the country context of when, why and how hunger began; rather than formulating a correct solution based on the information collected. In Ethiopia, several key factors led to the onset of hunger. The series of unfortunate droughts and plagues that have hit Ethiopia, followed by the lack of government support and an attackable financial structure, have led to the exponential growth of hunger as a debilitating situation. The way to neutralize hunger in Ethiopia is to establish a new government, use assistance from powerful nations for food, water and other necessities, and create a self-sufficient country for the future.
