John Wyndham has made a strong impression on any reader who has read his book “The Chrysalis”. The people of Waknuk are terrified of the devil and inspired by God, which drives them to do unruly things. John Wyndham conveys social warnings for the human race by presenting our reality in a harsher light, showing normality versus difference, and providing a prime example of human fear of a higher power.
