Catchy TitleMany students find it very difficult to be the Mastery student they want to be. An immense component of being a Mastery student is knowing how to properly set goals. There are three characteristics commonly found in Mastery students. Setting goals brings responsibility, a sense of accomplishment and relaxation. If carefully defined, goals can bring many benefits. There are many benefits to achieving goals. Before setting a goal, it is essential to understand why it matters that you are doing it. First, when setting goals, make yourself aware of your strengths and weaknesses. Knowing your strengths is empowering, however, the feeling may not be the same when addressing weaknesses. Many people see weaknesses as a bad thing, but they only show where more work and focus is needed. It is essential that both are recognized. If they are not recognized, the plan made to achieve the goal will not be as effective because you will spend the same amount of time on the strengths and weaknesses. If you recognize both, less time will be needed on strengths and more time can be spent on weaker areas. Setting goals also gives you something to work towards and guidance along with it. This guide will help you form a path to achieve your goal. This will not only help in achieving goals but will also be very helpful in other things in life because it also brings responsibility. Responsibility can become quite scary and overwhelming when setting goals, but responsibility brings with it a sense of accomplishment, and after achieving the goal, a sigh of relief will overcome the anxiety. If accountability is a weakness, then one thing that can be done to ease the workload is to separate desires... middle of paper... most people have a lot of time, they just don't make it happen. Another reason for not setting goals is the fear of losing or being disappointed. No one likes the feeling of failing, but there is always something beneficial in trying. These are just some of the reasons why people don't set goals. While there are a million reasons why I might not set goals, there are a million and one reasons why I should. I have found goal setting to be very beneficial. Many times I find myself making goals without even meaning to. Using a planner has made it easy to set and achieve my goals. I use the SMART goal format and focus on the measurability of my goal. I set times and dates in my planner and have been very successful in achieving my goals. Goal setting is a very valuable component of being a Mastery student. Goals provide expectations and you are the judge.
