A World Full of Boys The characteristics that used to define men are becoming obsolete. Men in their twenties have reached a plateau, and most fall behind women on the road to success. Hard working men are disappearing and being replaced by party boys. As men turn into boys, girls turn into the women the future will need. Once the primary breadwinners, men are now seen as dependent boys, and women are starting to surpass them. For centuries, men have been the primary breadwinners, but today most are overgrown boys. Several decades ago, most kids had started working at a very young age and most of them had never had a choice about which career or job they took up. On average, most American men completed the major milestone towards adulthood in their twenties. They would have a degree, a wife, a career and children. Comedian Julie Klausner refers to “males as 'boys' because they are neither boys nor men, but somewhere in between.
