Social Perception of Gender RolesGenerally speaking, men are physically stronger than women, so they do more labor-intensive work, not to mention physical appearance, men are often present with greater strength and confident appearance than the woman who is more convincing in making a sale. A gendered expectation was for women to stay at home and take care of the house while men worked and provided the bread and butter for the family. However, this is only the social perception that illustrates the behavioral difference between men and women. Due to this perception of behavioral differences, barriers, unequal treatment and discrimination have been created between men and women. It is bad to have such a perception in this world of freedom, we should have equal opportunities for every individual and not let this behavior constrain us all. In our general perception, men are always stronger than women due to the male body frame and our core beliefs. Although men are born to be strong and hardly to be losers, they always refuse to talk about the bad things that happened around them. For a stereotype of men, they were afraid to show everyone their weaknesses and fears. To build a healthy relationship between men and women, effective communication is necessary. Effective communication means that we should first understand the positive and negative characteristics of both genders to build trust and mutual respect. However, men are always refused to do so, they usually live in a world with their own "Code of Conduct". In the article "How Boys Become Men" by John Katz, the author states that boys usually hide from others under any circumstances. This means that they d...... middle of paper ......d women, we should not despise the ability of women. To diversify our society, we should give women the same opportunities as men. Also, don't limit yourself and simply follow the majority. For example, women shouldn't major in science, or men shouldn't major in nursing. To stop this unequal social perception towards men and women, we should encourage girls to get involved in competitive activities that are traditionally reserved only for boys. . Parents should raise their children regardless of gender, for example, men can play with dolls and girls with trucks. We should give them the opportunity to make choices. Besides that, education in school should discuss the strengths and weaknesses of both genders, so that they can understand each other's capabilities. I believe that one day we can create a new social perception that "Women and men are equal".
