We live in a world today full of: low self-esteem, bullying, hate crimes, lying, abuse, child molestation, depression, racism, addictions, murder, corruption , violence, rape, self-mutilation, witchcraft, pornography, sexual immorality, broken hearts, hatred, greed, eating disorders, jealousy, suicide, starvation, torture, hypocrisy and death. Religion is important because it teaches people about themselves. It gives them hope for a future free from all this pain and anguish, and through stories, parables, and quotes from prudent prophets of old who were said to listen to the voice of God, or by recalling evidence of miracles and extreme faith, it provides an anchor of salvation for God and spiritual fulfillment. Teach people morals, principles, origin and integrity. Religion is important in today's world because we all want to feel that we have worth and that there is a greater purpose to our lives than living, dying, and being forgotten. Humans want to know: why are we here on this earth, how were we created, what should we do with our lives, and what happens to us after we die? Religion answers some, if not all of these questions, in one form or another. It gives people a goal to achieve and a lifestyle to respect; instigates brotherly love, offers hope, peace and overwhelming joy to the humblest broken soul and the cheerfulst aristocrat. However, there are conditions for these gifts, so religion is a blessing and can be used to improve the world if it is practiced with humility and not with hypocrisy. Would the world be a better place if its inhabitants all followed the same religion? Yes, but only if everyone practiced it seriously to the best of their ability, with humility and without judgment, accepting every nation...... middle of paper......ed; no one is perfect. Ergo the deficit of this hypothetical world: what would be left for choice and free will? And what would happen if someone sinned? It would be a shame for another to punish that person. Considering this, the point I would like to make is that, hypothetically, if everyone could completely lay down their human selfishness at the feet of Jesus, and understand and agree with each other, be totally honest and open-minded to thoughts and to the feelings of others, and living in absolute peace and harmony with each other, the world would truly be a better place for everyone on so many different levels. While it is obviously not possible to achieve a goal set so unrealistically high, it is interesting to ponder when considering how different the world would be when Adam committed that original sin, and what role women play in the corruption of men..
