The end of the Indian and French conflicts in 1763 led to a severe financial crisis that included: the need to increase revenue, as the crown imposed a multitude of new taxes on America's colonies. Specifically, the Stamp Act of 1765 that emphasized reduced taxes on paper and printed products angered the colonists, resulting in the establishment of the radical American slogan: "No taxation without representation." Later, after eight years, in 1773, the colonists opposed the British taxation of tea by abandoning 342 chests of tea in the British port, referred to as the "Boston Tea Party".
