Asch's configural model explores how I latched onto Jakes' core traits, including his rudeness and passive behavior, and from there formed my own impression on what I initially assumed, that he was a typical hooligan. The perception process also showed me how this impression of Jake, captured by my senses, organized into categories that I had created mentally and based on my personal experiences with people with similar characteristics, was created in an imprecise way. From here I organized the patterns that I felt Jake fit best and formed my final interpretation of him. The idea of perceptual accentuation makes sense to me and I am aware of how natural this is for humans after analyzing how I assumed other characteristics of Jake, based on the ones I had initially seen. While all three of these areas of perception are similar, each has individual factors that made me realize my error in judgment. I believe that my error is due to perceptual distortions, although I also recognize how instinctive it is for humans to act in this way to gather information on the subject, however false it may be. Perception is now a more common thought of mine, I have learned to become more aware of what I assume from people and why I approach situations like this. It is clear to me that my perceptions of people and objects can be inaccurate and misleading across multiple and diverse frames of perception, and from this I will learn to think more deeply about what my initial perception actually is..
