Topic > Reflections on IB Students - 1525

As an IB student, it is very important to recognize that the curriculum is indeed an international program involving schools from all over the world. Therefore, IB is present in a variety of different cultures and countries. As a student in the IB program, I have noticed that much of the study focuses centrally on literature. Whether it's an English or history course, there are many opportunities to study books, popular novels, and poetry. Furthermore, many of these may be pieces of world literature or examples of popular literature in American society. Additionally, many students choose to take science classes as part of the International Baccalaureate program and have the opportunity to learn several fundamentals that help them gain more scientific knowledge. However, the question that arises is how a student can take the knowledge they have gained in IB lessons and apply it to their understanding of individuals and societies, including their own and those different from theirs. Literature is defined as “a term used to describe written or spoken material” (Classical literature). This can be anything from a form of creative writing to writing based on scientific or historical discoveries. More commonly, however, literature refers mainly to forms of writing such as non-fiction or fiction novels, dramas or poems. According to Albrecht, “literature is interpreted as a reflection of norms and values, as a revelation of the ethics of culture, of processes of class struggle. and of certain types of social “facts”. However, it can also form certain standards of the s...... half of paper......and there are countless examples, through the study of psychology and other pieces of world literature, I have a better understanding of individuals and society in my culture, as well as a lesser understanding of the same factors elsewhere of the world.
